What happens in dominoes when two players don't have any doubles their first hand/game?

Since the first hand/game of dominoes with two players normally start with double 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0... But what if neither player has a double?what happens then? What happens in dominoes when two players don't have any doubles their first hand/game?
Short answer: the heaviest bone (most pips/dots) goes first.

Long answer...

There are two choices of how to start:

1. Draw for heaviest bone. Then, reshuffle the picks back into the pile and proceed from there. Any domino may be played first. This is common in point-scoring games like muggins, fives, sniff, etc. Some people prefer this for all types of games, since it avoids the very question that you are asking.

2. The heaviest double goes first. This is common in draw and block games. If there are no doubles then the heaviest bone goes first. If there is still a tie (say, 6-3 %26amp; 5-4) then the heaviest end (the 6 in this example) goes first. You want to avoid a reshuffle once the dominos have been drawn.

There are a few game variants where a double MUST be played first. You may need a reshuffle for those. What happens in dominoes when two players don't have any doubles their first hand/game?
You can put down any domino! If it adds up to 5 or 10 you get the points. So if you are first to play and put down a ::/::: you will get 10 points. However, some people play by the rule that you have to re-shuffle the dominoes if no one has a double. What happens in dominoes when two players don't have any doubles their first hand/game?
If none of the players holds a double in his hand, all hands are discarded, reshuffled, and new hands are drawn.
